“domo“ is a cabinet that entails outside-the-box-thinking, adding fun to the furniture. Other cabinets available on the market require the act of opening the door. On the contrary, domo adds more fun by changing the way of how to open and shut the door. In addition, the material of the door is made of gradient acrylic sheet, so the design looks beautiful, especially when the door is opened. However, other cabinets would not have displayed this beautiful door design because the door opens and shuts in a different way, which makes the door design hidden behind the door when the door is opened. On the other hand, in the case of domo, the door design is visible even if the door is opened by changing the way of how to open and shut the door.

“Square Candle” is a candle in the shape of a square pillar, so it does not roll. It has four types of fragrances: floral, woody, herbal and citrus. The metaphor of the subtle scent spreading across the room was wittily expressed with a gradation of pastel shades on candles and packages. Square-shaped candles look beautiful when they are stacked on top each other and are more advantageous than round-shaped candles in terms of storage, shipping and inventory management. In addition, it does not need a candle holder since the packaging made from flame-retardant paper can be assembled and used as a disposable candle holder, which makes it perfect as a gift.

“The Leaf series” (side table) are designed in an organic form with flexible curves, breaking away from the vertical and horizontal structures of existing mass-produced furniture, and also feature an architectural technique called cantilever structure. We thought that cantilever is an efficient and effective structure to express and deliver various forms without any limitation, so it can be used as a functional element of furniture and a decorative element as an object. The Leaf series (side table) was produced precisely and quickly with a CNC engraving machine for parts, which were difficult to produce in large quantities in the past due to their flexible curves.

LIGHT.FAB+Momentum Studio

We came up with a lighting protection structure that combines a cage frame with a shape inspired by the atomic structure. It is a concept designed to safely protect the inner center by forming a spherical shape with circular frames around the light bulb. The frame’s fixed axis can be adjusted with a wing bolt. The design allows easy replacement since it returns to the form of a concentric circle when the fixed axis is loosened.

rhetoric+Roh&Kim

rhetoric is an eco-friendly lunch box brand that practices zero waste by using 100% biodegradable bioplastic materials. Based on the collaboration between Roh&Kim and rhetoric, we conducted research and design development to reinterpret a cutlery set according to the user's lifestyle. rhetoric's lunch box unfolds a design story based on our repetitive daily routine and recycling through the shape of circles. The cutlery set was designed with the design language of “circles”, which connect the design story and context with rhetoric’s lunch box. Six circles are connected to each other to create a proportional shape. The spoon, fork and knife can be stacked on top of each other. With the design focused on portability, a loop connector ring can be attached to the hole at the end of the handle, ideal to bring along on outdoor picnics.

One-Third+Almond Studio

For our lighting material, we used stainless steel bowls, which are commonly used as a tableware but also one of the most common second-hand kitchen utensils stacked up along the Hwanghak-dong Kitchen Furniture Street. We minimized further carbon emissions and wasted parts by adding a relatively simple processing step and created the design in a form that allows the second-hand bowls to be upcycled with more ease. We used carved wood to connect the upper part of the lighting piece, which is another element that adds to our team’s uniqueness. Our new product combines the identities of both teams based on ONE-THIRD’s value of upcycling and Almond Studio’s design. It can be used as a pendant light and also a table/floor lamp, and the light reflected by the stainless steel creates a new atmosphere.

Porcotta Yuxa xtudio+COCS

“Erosion Project” represents bathroom supplies that pursue spontaneity and naturalness. Natural landforms we usually see are the traces of layers accumulated over time. Nature constantly creates new shapes through wind weathering, volcanic eruptions, and wave erosion. “Erosion Project” was created with the motif of ”the lines of nature” from these landforms. By experimenting materials such as diatomaceous earth that absorbs water, we would like to offer bathroom supplies that balance both practicality and aesthetics.
