Founded in August 2012, Yolk aims to innovate by fusing technology with design.
SolarPaper, a paper-thin and lightweight solar charger, became the first Korean company to raise more than $1 million (KRW 1.2 billion) on Kickstarter, a U.S. crowdfunding platform. It was covered by more than 300 media outlets worldwide, including CNBC and the BBC, and won the Ministry of Industry Award and CES Innovation Award.

Yolk's next challenge is to innovate beyond technology and design in pursuit of social values.

The Solar Cow system, which helps solve child labor in Africa through the distribution of solar energy, was the first Korean initiative to win Germany's Green Award, the 'Tech for a better world' Innovation Award at CES, the world's largest tech show, the Social Impact Award at IF, the world's top-three design award, and was selected as the first Korean partner project at P4G, an international summit on the environment.

Most recently, in partnership with Solar Cow, we launched AYANTU, an Ethiopian specialty coffee brand where a cup of coffee can brighten the day and reduce carbon for an Ethiopian family.
