Delivering sustainability and aesthetics with organic patterns
2021-10-13390

Kyelee Kim and KKDC came together to create a modular decorative lighting that can be displayed in organic patterns to set a warm mood. You can connect module 1 and module 2 that look like arcs to create organic patterns, and it can be expanded with modular units as a pendant light or a wall-mounted lamp. The product takes both sustainability and aesthetics into account by finishing eco-friendly LED lighting made with its own technology with high-quality fabric made from recycled PET plastic. The product series will be based on the softness of fabric and colors drawn from colors and will allow users to customize the size and shape of the lighting depending on the amount of space. Kyelee Kim who was responsible for the product design said that she was strongly committed to the collaboration with a maker that boasts a long history and extensive knowhow to achieve the goal of mass production. She added that she has learned and felt many things during the process of coming up with and finding ways to create an intangible design based on their expertise. They tried to finish their product by creating synergies and balancing each other’s strengths and philosophy. KKDC who participated as a maker said that the collaboration with Kyelee Kim allowed them to set a clear direction to mass produce the product based on their knowhow of production. He said that he was able to learn the importance of product variety by translating the designer’s various designs into reality.
