Scholars or bureaucrats of the Goryeo Dynasty and the Joseon Dynasty drew natural objects with poetry or calligraphy to express their feelings and thoughts. However, the coexistence of humans and nature has been disrupted in the modern era, and we are unlikely to see the values of coexistence with nature, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Designer Woorim Kang and iamHERE reflected the current reality in the lighting design, designed a floor lamp based on a motif of orchid and created a shape with an aesthetically modern feel by applying a sustainable LED chip for the light source. It can be manufactured in different heights, and the main focus of the collaboration was standardizing the light source for mass production.

Designer Woorim Kang said that he collaborated with iamHERE to find ways to mass produce Ran Floor Lamp in order to break the stereotype that art furniture cannot be mass-produced. He added that he had a lot of concerns about the technical aspect of the connection between the light source and the structure, and iamHERE helped him a lot by finding ways and experimenting with various approaches together. Hyewon Jung, CEO of a furniture platform company called iamHERE, was responsible for the product’s manufacturing. She said Woorim Kang is a designer who can best represent the organic curves of Korean artistry than anyone else, and his formative imagination will have strong presence not only in the domestic market but also in the world. She added that she is expecting more and more designers to take part in K-furniture and K-lighting and expand their presence on the global stage.
