Corrugated cardboard furniture that stands out as an interior element in a living space or a public space

Due to frequent moving and the increased interest in home interior resulting from the increasing number of single-person households, furniture waste has been on the rise every year. However, the existing designs of corrugated cardboard furniture that only promotes its commitment to eco-friendliness are not good enough to satisfy today’s customers who are showing more interest in home interior. To solve this problem, we have developed a product that stands out as an interior element in a living space or a public space in efforts to move away from its existing image.

The product presented at this year’s DDP Design Fair is WORKSHOP Stool that can be easily assembled by consumers and can serve different purposes in various spaces due to its small size and light weight. It can be used as a chair, a side table where you can put small items or an interior object by just placing it in a space depending on the user’s intention.

Studio PESI Designer Byounghwi Jeon said he had a great deal of difficulty designing a high-quality product with limited materials and processing methods during the development process but he has learned a lot through this collaboration. Also, the close partnership with PAPER POP offered an opportunity to be bold enough to try new things he has never done before.

PAPER POP CEO Daehee Park said it was meaningful to jump into a new experience of making practical paper furniture products that can be purchased at a reasonable price, rather than an expensive and unaffordable design product. He promised he will try his best to come up with more various products in the future.

PAPER POP, a company that makes everyday objects with paper, produces home décor items such as beds, bookshelves and desks made out of paper. It plays a huge role in creating a virtuous cycle for the recycling ecosystem by making pieces of furniture with recyclable paper that are easily thrown away. Studio PESI is an industrial design studio that designs everything tangible including furniture, products, interior and décor items.
