Composed of white porcelain on the top and
plastic legs in toned-down colors, the mini serving tray is a modern take on
traditional high furniture with the concept of 'reinterpreting tradition'. The
approach was to solve the problem of the existing porcelain serving trays by
replacing the psychologically disturbing serving tray legs with other materials
and improving them using a 3D printer. The combination of porcelain and other
materials creates a contrasting atmosphere, giving the product a freshness that
appeals to the MZ generation, while also increasing production yields and
reducing material and costs. The elegance of the white porcelain tops and the
sculptural beauty of the flowing legs give the space a sense of vibrancy.
Maker Somin Craft Shop
"Working with traditional materials, I
wanted to create a fresh product that would appeal to a younger generation. It
was a great opportunity to collaborate and learn what I didn't know before."
Designer Kang-ho Doo
"As a designer just starting out, this
collaboration was a challenge for me to think about the traditional and the
modern, but I'm very happy with the result, which is something different and
unique from what we've done before, and it's a great opportunity for me to grow
personally."
