Warming Egg Basket Light

Collaboration: Hit Lighting and Toyo Gagu Club
2023-10-2569

As the name 'The Egg' suggests, it is a portable object light with an egg-shaped light source. By exposing the light source itself in the shape of an egg, rather than hiding the bulb that serves as the light source, the intention is to evoke the image of an egg as an object rather than just a light source. The shape of the egg, which is placed in a basket to be distributed to neighbors, conveys the warmth of a neighbor's heart, which goes well with the warm glow of the light. In addition, in line with the basket concept, it is portable and can be used in various places indoors and outdoors. As lighting in the interior market is becoming a work of art in its own right as an object that emits light beyond the meaning of 'light in space', we would like to showcase the value of lighting beyond lighting by presenting iconic lighting designs that are different from the existing ones.

Maker Hit Lighting

"We wanted the product to be designed with the utmost respect for the designer's opinions, but we also wanted it to be a product that consumers could keep warm and feel for a long time. By the time the design became a prototype, we were able to create a warm product that made us excited to go on a fall picnic, and we were able to fully share and respect each other's opinions during the design and production process, which was a valuable experience that we can use to develop our own products in the future."

Designer Toyo Gagu Club

"Designing for mass production came with a lot of constraints, especially in terms of how it could be manufactured in Korea, and I realized once again that it's the designer's job to solve them. However, my team members and I worked together with Hit Lighting to solve many problems, and in the process, we tried to pursue a better direction and a better result instead of choosing the next best thing. I feel like I grew a lot more through this project, and I would like to thank Hit Lighting for respecting the designer's opinion."
