The design concept of Mirror Peep comes from the word “peep”, which means “to secretly look at something through a small hole” and “to take a glance”. Through “Mirror Peep”, people cannot look at their face as they usually do, but rather catch a glimpse of their eyes, nose and mouth through small holes. A mirror object, which can be hung on the wall, was created with ceramic materials, proposing a way of seeing oneself in an unfamiliar way. Some people may express their discomfort with this unfamiliar way, others may think of themselves as beautiful by taking a closer look at themselves, and still others may walk away after they check their lips in the mirror after eating. This may be unfamiliar and uncomfortable, but it is a small and cute object with a sense of humor and warmth.

“I participated in last year’s DDP Design Fair. Based on my experience, a series of processes of communicating with the designer during the collaboration and working in perfect harmony to create a product offered a new experience since I could try something different from the existing work method and start fresh by escaping from my repetitive daily routine. Thanks to this experience, I am enjoying the process of exploring and creating things based on a new way of communication. I had the joy of learning new things from the development process as a participant, but it was also rewarding and satisfying to have the opportunity to see various items created by other participating teams and participate in an exhibition that has so many things to see.”

“First of all, we considered a design that can effectively reveal the properties of ceramics, and set the direction in order to convey the message and concept of the work in an effective way. As a result, Mirror Peep was designed to remind those who look in the mirror of their beauty and deliver a sense of humor. It conveys a sense of humor and a message to people and accents the space as the form of an object. Although things did not turn out 100 percent as we had expected, we were able to work in perfect harmony through seamless communication with the maker. We are planning to do more in-depth experiments on the materials we have used during our collaboration.”
