With the motif of traditional ceramics, four vases of different shapes and sizes were cut in various proportions and pasted together to create a single vase. This vase called Ceramic: Cut and Paste, which was created as part of an experimental work on the new formative possibilities of ceramic products, fulfills its role as an interior object or a vase where you can keep colorful flowers thanks to its distinctive appearance. Inspired by the shapes of traditional ceramics, this object which combines traditional Korean and modern aesthetics will help style a unique space.

“For the diversity of wares that come out from plaster molds, we tried to combine molds in different forms, instead of using one form. We wanted the viewers to enjoy more fun depending on their point of view. It could have been easily produced by putting together pieces from one mold, but instead we combined molds in different forms to reflect our team’s direction. The process was tricky, but we were able to remove the hinges of each mold and attach a hinge only to the inlet in order that the molds could be put together without wobbling. I hope this collaboration becomes an opportunity to develop a series of products with Small Splash.”

“Through this year’s DDP Design Fair, I wanted to create a design with materials I have never used before. I was fortunate to get matched with Park Junhee Ceramics and have the opportunity to learn many things about the material characteristics and the manufacturing process of ceramic products. We focused more on creating a design language that can be extended to various product lines rather than creating a single product. I hope this collaboration becomes an opportunity to further develop Ceramic: Cut and Paste into a series of various products.”
