Q1 We’ve heard that you have participated in the DDP Design Fair before.

Yes, I participated in the DDP Design Fair again because I experienced the joy of overcoming the limitations of acrylic material and creating great results through the collaboration with passionate designers with brilliant ideas.

Q2 Were there any difficulties during production?

Domo is a unique cabinet that has never existed before. It is a beautiful and functional product that makes use of the transparency and coloring properties of acrylic, but we had a problem with functional implementation due to acrylic's difficult processability, however, this was solved through several attempts by changing the applied part.

Q3 Any difficulties during the collaboration process?

I tried to express as much as possible without harming the designer's intention by thinking from each other's point of view and discussing things together. We cooperated based on an accurate understanding of each other's limitations. I almost thought of quitting the collaboration when I had a difficult time due to the tight schedule, but I think it was a rewarding experience because I was able to get a great outcome.

Q1 Is this your first time participating in the DDP Design Fair?

Yes, this is my first time. As a member of a company, I’ve designed furniture for various spaces while working on a 5-star hotel project over the past years. Based on my years of experience, I was convinced that I was ready to go on stage as a designer, and I happened to come across the DDP Design Fair. I decided to participate in the fair because I wanted to perform my first stage at the DDP Design Fair.

Q2 Is there any recent trend reflected in this product?

Customized home appliances that are available in a variety of colors according to the user's taste are gaining popularity. With its coloring technology, DOMO's door can be expressed with various colors. Through the expression of colors, users can express their taste or enjoy interior with a unified look by matching the overall tone of the entire house.

Q3 Which part did you focus on the most during the collaboration process?

There was only one thing I considered important during the collaboration: “communication” based on the sharing of vast amount of data. It was a product that required high technical skills, and it was a new challenge for me to combine hardware. In fact, I had a hard time because the production period was somewhat short, but tried to communicate with the maker and share data with each other. I was able to create a great outcome by staying up all night until the night before the exhibition.

Q4 What is your plan after the collaboration?

DOMO's hardware was designed according to the configuration of off-the-shelf products. In the future, we plan to develop the most suitable hardware configuration to refine DOMO’s method of opening and shutting the door. In addition, we plan to release the basic line that keeps DOMO's design but has the characteristics of general furniture without the motion of door opening and shutting.
