Column mini shelf

The Column Mini Shelf is a product made using lumber and HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) plywood. It draws inspiration from the process of creating concrete pillars and architectural columns in the form of a mini shelf. This mini shelf is designed with the idea that the pillars and top surface structurally support each other, allowing the structure itself to become a key visual element in the product. Each pillar is individually designed and produced to be modular, resulting in slightly different column structures depending on the configuration. The circular part of the pillar serves both as a functional component for compatibility with other products in the Column series, such as the Wall Shelf, and as a graphic element that enhances the Eastern aesthetic.

Pops Chair

The Pops Chair is a chair designed by recycling industrial rubber hoses. Rubber hoses are commonly used in industries and daily life, and they pose difficulties in waste disposal due to their rubber composition. The idea behind the Pop Chair was born from the concept of giving disposable materials a second life. Through the recycling of rubber hoses, it symbolizes the fusion of nature and human activity, represented by the mixing of various colors of paint on a palette. This concept is embodied through the creation of simple and organic patterns using rubber hoses in various colors.
The frame of the chair is made from a steel mesh structure, with each section filled with colors in a pixelated fashion, giving it a 2D graphic feel. To represent the blending of paint in a three-dimensional way, different knotting techniques were used to add texture. The Pop Chair is an environmentally conscious product that aims to create new value through recycling rubber hoses, allowing nature and people to coexist harmoniously, particularly relevant in this period of growing interest in environmental issues.

toenmaru Chair

As an adult, I have often missed the times as a child when I sat on the porch at house of my grandmother, eating watermelon or taking a nap. I designed the cafe chair or solo tea chair with the intention of expressing a sense of space in the smallest of spaces, a chair, so that users can experience leisure and relaxation.
The main feature of the chair is the seat. Two long pieces of wood resemble a porch, and the angles on the seat are designed to induce comfort when seated. The asymmetrical seat allows you to feel a sense of space, and you can also use it to place clothes, bags, or a tray for placing teacups.
In a cafe setting, it can be used to hang bags or outerwear, while in the case of a solo tea chair, it allows you to quietly sip tea while gazing out the window with the tray.

Story of Chair

This is a story about the production of chairs. As chair makers, we began to question whether chairs could exist independently of their surroundings, and we decided to convey that the act of making chairs cannot be disconnected from our relationship with the environment and its impact. Using the ubiquitous plastic chair, produced in a quantity equivalent to the entire population of world, as a reference, we created sofas of the same size and quantified the remaining sponges to form the substructure of chair. The furniture created thus serve as functional objects that convey both functionality and concept.
The juxtaposition of the hard plastic chair and the soft sponge visually highlights to users the amount of materials beyond what is visible in the manufacturing process of chair, conveying stories beyond the physical space. This work aims to represent us, the chair makers, and serves a unique role in raising awareness of our social values and environmental consciousness.

Screw Tools

Design for Disposal

We aimed to emphasize the ease of recycling after a product reaches the end of its lifespan. Even with plastic as the primary material, we utilized screw joint technology to allow sturdy assembly without the need for additional materials like bolts or nuts. This design choice ensures that even after a lifespan has ended of product, each part can be easily separated for a smooth recycling process, making it more environmentally friendly both in the process and the outcome.
Screw joint technology has already been used in traditional woodworking. By applying it to plastic product design, we aimed to enhance the connection with sustainable materials. This innovative technology guarantees both product durability and ease of assembly while offering various design possibilities. It can be extended to other products and holds the potential for collaborations with existing plastic manufacturing brands.

Floral Stool

This floral stool is inspired by flowers and designed to break away from the conventional furniture structure where the tabletop and legs are typically joined. Instead, it maximizes the organic curves found in nature, moving away from the usual structural elements.
The final form is created by combining three laminated bending pieces, and when viewed from above, it resembles the shape of a flower. The graceful, curving lines from the legs to the tabletop evoke the image of a flower. In addition to aesthetics, this floral stool places emphasis on productivity in its design. The lamination bending technique allows for efficient mass production, saving both time and cost. Dot-Dashed Rubber Bands

Have you ever thought about the elasticity of rubber bands? In various situations, you might need the right level of tightness, like when sealing a bag to keep snacks from getting stale, or loosely holding your hair for a brief moment during a meal to prevent it from falling into your food. What if you could visually determine how stretchy a rubber band is with just a glance?
Dot-Dashed Rubber Bands represent differences in elasticity with the spacing of dots and dashes on the band. With this design, you can instantly gauge the level of elasticity without having to stretch it manually. The idea of being able to finely choose the elasticity you need provides a sense of reassurance. Moreover, is not it just fun that the rubber band is dotted and dashed? This design adds an element of excitement to the world of loose rubber bands, injecting some tension into it.

Tea Object

The "Tea Object" has been designed to allow for the enjoyment of the true essence of tea leaves in a convenient manner without the need for a formal tea set. By incorporating a strainer, tea leaves can be placed inside, and when hot water is poured, it results in a delicious cup of tea. The components have been minimized, combining a cup with an inner strainer, and a lid.
The design of the cup is simple, but it includes markings on the inside that resemble a scale. These markings are created due to variations in outer thickness of the cup, and they serve the purpose of allowing users to gauge the right amount of water by looking at the markings inside the cup. After drinking the tea, users can also feel the taste of the tea on their fingertips when washing the cup, intentionally designed for this sensory experience.
Furthermore, efforts were made to minimize waste in the packaging as much as possible. The components are securely fixed within a wooden box that can be used permanently. The packaging material is cloth, which can be repurposed as a "Tea Mat."

lumino

The Lumino Watch offers an experience of focusing on the various colors of the sky that appear as time flows. It features two discs representing the hour and minute hands, which overlap and separate from each other repeatedly, symbolizing the changing nature of time.
This watch is characterized by the rotation of the discs, resulting in both color and form changes, revealing a new appearance in the space every hour. Instead of providing precise timekeeping, it emphasizes the importance of having a sense of tranquility, similar to the ever-changing sky, without being bound by time.
To achieve the color scheme, color chips of traditional Korean paper, Hanji, were created and printed using a heat transfer technique. The production process was simplified to increase efficiency and reduce color variations that can occur through hand coloring. Additionally, three color options were made available to suit various wall environments.
