Based on the universal plastic chair produced for the entire population, a sofa of the same size was created, and the leftover sponges were collected and quantified to form the substructure of the chair. The resulting chair is utilized as a functional element and as an objet that conveys a concept. The visual contrast between the hard plastic chair and the soft sponge tells a story beyond the space by giving the user a visual representation of the amount of other unseen materials that went into the creation of the chair. The chair fulfills a unique role in promoting social values and environmental awareness.

"We used a combination of plastic and wood frames to depict a design approach that breaks away from the prejudicial tendencies of plastic chairs that are readily available around us. We paid close attention to the fastening method and foundation of existing plastic chairs for a stable finish."

If you look at this chair, it is composed of two layers: a plastic chair and a sponge. The visual contrast between the hard plastic chair and the soft sponge is meant to impact the viewer."
