There was a time when sleep was considered a waste of time, a flight from productivity, but as the importance of sleep for a healthy life has been increasingly recognized, interest in sleep has grown. Add to that the availability of sleep-tracking features on cell phones and wearables, and it‘s no wonder that now anyone can track their sleep.

Amazon‘s upcoming Halo Rise product is also centered around sleep tracking. What makes it unique is that it‘s not a wearable device that you have to put on your body to measure. Sure, cell phones are contactless, but their sleep analysis is limited to sound. The Halo app provides a detailed summary analysis of how much time you spend in each stage of sleep - REM, light sleep, and deep sleep - and what your sleep environment is like, and recommends areas to improve for better sleep.
