Atomicage, a piece of lighting that makes people amazed at its uniqueness at first sight, combines a cage frame with a shape inspired by the atomic structure. It is based on a lighting protection structure, which is a concept designed to safely protect the inner center by forming a spherical shape with circular frames around the light bulb. The frame’s fixed axis can be adjusted with a wing bolt. The design allows easy replacement since it returns to the form of a concentric circle when the fixed axis is loosened. It attracts attention not only in industrial settings, but also within any space as a unique home and living object.

Q1 The collaboration product has finally been unveiled. How do you feel?

This was a great experience to break away from what I usually do, working with ordinary lighting products, and create a lighting product with a unique and fresh design in collaboration with Momentum Studio.

Q2 What is your goal or plan after the collaboration?

After product design and development, our product will be mass-produced and launched into the market. We will continue to develop follow-up products and keep in touch with each other.

Q3 How did you feel about the DDP Design Fair?

I was able to broaden my horizons by communicating with the designer, and it was a great opportunity for me to experience the design trends in Korea every year. I hope the participants and the DDP Design Fair continue to develop and grow together, so that more designers and makers can have a variety of opportunities and experiences in the future.

Q1 We’ve heard this is your third time participating in the fair.

I was able to have an impressive experience by working on projects with people from various fields while I participated in the fair twice. I decided to participate again this year to have an extensive experience in design with more various people.

Q2 Is there any issue reflected in this collaborative product with unique characteristics?

As multiple reports of accidents at industrial worksites have raised safety issues, for the first time, I learned that there are lighting products for industrial worksites. That’s why I wanted to create a product that contributes to productivity by ensuring the safety of workers and assisting the progress of work at industrial construction sites, which lack lighting facilities; and a product that reduces the risk of accidents in spaces which require high safety standards and enables safe and efficient maintenance and repair.

Q3 Which part did you focus on the most during the collaboration process?

Thanks to LIGHT.FAB’s long history and extensive experience in the lighting industry, we were able to learn new things about the lighting design process. We mostly focused on planning and design to translate the design into an actual product.
