The 4th Space
light

The Kerf Series Lighting, utilizing the Kerf Bending technique commonly used in woodworking, reflects the design philosophy of "The 4th Space" through its focus on recycled plastic sheet processing.
This lighting series introduces innovative ways to create light patterns using consistent groove widths for bending. The grooves not only enable structural flexibility but also shape the way light diffuses, showcasing fresh ideas with diverse forms and structures.
To uphold the ESG principles of recycled plastic, we minimized the use of other materials, crafting an entirely eco-friendly lighting solution from sheet-processed recycled plastic.

The "ro-x / m-z light" is a kinetic floor lamp that applies the principles of light reflection and refraction.
Users can gradually adjust the diffusion range by altering the distance between the central light source and the mirror disc, as well as by changing the type of mirrors placed on both sides of the disc.
The 360-degree rotating mirror disc allows users to reflect light in their desired direction. These kinetic elements not only provide an interactive experience but also enable a single lamp to serve multiple functional purposes.

The ro-x / m-z light integrates both rotational and vertical movements into its design, using circular-cut rods, pipes, and mechanical components.
This approach emphasizes geometric modernity and the rhythmic aesthetic of machinery. To maximize the lighting effects, the parts exposed to light are finished with a matte black anodized coating, while the moving components highlight the texture of the metal, further intensifying the interplay of light, movement, and form.

light

Roof is a ceiling light designed to capture the warm glow that radiates beneath the roof in the middle of the night. Drawing inspiration from the shape of a house, this design evokes a sense of comfort and security, much like the feeling of returning home after work and switching on the front door light. The intention was to create a lighting design that promotes both mental and emotional stability through light.
The lampshade, shaped like a roof, features an adjustable ceiling plate between the shade and the light, which can also function as a shelf. Even when not in use as a light source, it serves as a decorative piece, such as a display shelf. The design makes use of indirect lighting to highlight ornaments, transforming the space with both practical and aesthetic value.

DEASUNG
light

We created the Kreis light so that it could harmoniously blend with our daily lives. Inspired by the shapes of the sun and moon—light forms we’ve admired for centuries—and from the circle, widely regarded as the most perfect geometric shape, this design embodies both natural and geometric harmony.
The Kreis light features more than just a simple flat circle; it incorporates elements like concentric circles, light emanating from the center, and light spilling out from beneath the circular lampshade. These various light elements evoke a sense of stability and geometric beauty.
Instead of relying on commonly used transparent or translucent materials, the design employs metal, allowing light to gently escape from the shape itself. Equipped with adjustable bulbs, users can modify both the color temperature and brightness, making it ideal for various settings, such as a table lamp or mood light beside the bed.

light

We began by focusing on lighting as an essential element of interior design and space, using this concept as the foundation for the direction of the design. The shape of the design is inspired by the cone and cylinder shapes of plaster sculpture casts, which are not only tools used for sketching in art but also widely used in interior spaces. We developed the product using plastic and acrylic materials, highlighting the soft glow that emanates from both the top and bottom.

In collaboration with CREAFT, a 3D printing and filament manufacturing company, and lighting designer Yoon Kyung-Hyun, we created a lamp designed for 3D printing. Intended to be used as a versatile lamp suitable for various settings, it features an adjustable height that allows users to control the direction and intensity of the light projected onto the floor. The lamp also includes embedded magnets, enabling it to be easily attached to floors or walls, increasing its functionality and adaptability.
