  • Company Hones

1 Please introduce the company (brand).

Living Design Studio Hones designs furniture that retains the essence of furniture and contains our own design DNA. We design valuable furniture that can be the standard for good furniture in an era of over-choice to help customers make better choices. Furthermore, through collaboration with various brands, we design and consult on furniture that fits the concept of space. Hones exists to remind you of the power and value of design that is conveyed when unique furniture that matches each brand's personality is placed in a space.

2 How did you start the brand? If you have an interesting story, please share.

While working in the design industry, I’ve worked in so many fields, but I don't think I've had as much fun as I’ve had with furniture and lighting. It was interesting to see the manual process of cutting and bending materials rather than using molds. When I met artisans in each field, I naturally thought that I wanted to make my own brand and make furniture with them, and I still am. I would like to create a cooperative relationship with manufacturing companies in various fields through Hones.

3 Please introduce a new product you are making or your most recent product.

This year, a second collection of products from the lighting brand Bonacia was released. There were a lot of trials and errors in the first collection, but in the second series, those parts were improved and new attempts were made. Among them, "Kia" lighting is a light source that moves light sources through sanded acrylics, focusing on the phenomenon of no light forming on transparent materials. It creates a modern atmosphere with the stiffness that comes from a simple form and the finish where you can feel the natural character of each material. Most recently, I've been designing chairs and tables, and I've used wood and metal pipes to make a chair that is structurally simple but naturally harmonizes each material. It's the first chair that contains Hones' own design philosophy, so I'm looking forward to seeing how people will react to it.

4 For the people visiting the launch hall, please share the main parts of the booth and the concept of the exhibition.

Since it's a living design studio, we're going to proceed in a form that combines furniture and lighting as a whole. With tables and chairs at the center, we're going to use white and woodtone finishes to create a neat and warm atmosphere to make you feel like you're inside the house.

5 Is there a reason why you decided to participate in the design launch fair? What are you expecting from the fair?

I am participating in this design launch fair to share Hones' unique design DNA. I look forward to connecting with fellow designers, industry professionals and discerning consumers who appreciate the balance of form and function.

6 Please tell us about the direction that you want to take your brand in going forward.

The domestic living product manufacturing market tends to rely a lot on overseas design. Products are made in a way that imitates famous products without introducing their own design, and we want to help the manufacturing market through collaboration with companies that have the technology but don’t have any unique designs.

7 "Various" opinions, thoughts, criticism, and praise for the platform called Design Launch Fair, are all welcome. Please share anything you wish to.

The birth of Bonacia began on the Euljiro Lightway. It started with a collaboration between the designer and the manufacturer and continues to this day. Experts from each field met to exert great synergy, creating new brands and creating many opportunities. While there are good cases among many matching teams, there are many cases that end up as a one-off, and I hope there will be a lot of interest and support so that the matching system can be more organized and maintained.
