Lucky Soap, a soap for everyday good fortune

Collaboration: DRO and FLOPY STUDIO
2023-10-3150

People often touch statues for good luck. These lucky statues are faded and worn in certain areas. Lucky Soap is a product that incorporates the motivation behind the practice of rubbing statues and the visual features of the statues into a soap that is used for scrubbing. The soap is embossed with graphics of a clover, horseshoe, and dice, which symbolize good fortune, and a gradient effect to create the image of a faded statue. A message such as "Wherever you go, the horseshoe will lead you to good fortune" is hidden on the scratch card, making it a great gift to wish the recipient good luck. The subtle scent of hinoki wood, citrus, and other fragrances will bring a moment of fragrant good fortune to your everyday life.

Maker DRO

"I've always envisioned soaps with various designs, but it was a great experience to create a product with a story that I wouldn't have thought of on my own. It was fun and educational to see the details of how a design comes out as a product. We tried to make a product that can be consistently loved by many people."

"We approached the 'Lucky Soap' project with a focus on creating a new experience by adding a story to an everyday product that many people can relate to. It was an iterative process of finding a story to tell through the object of soap, expressing it visually, and validating it. Then, collaborating with DRO on the actual production of the soap, we were able to achieve remarkable results in an unfamiliar field."
